As you explore the Hunt Library, reflect on how you might use the Library as a resource for your studies.

How is the scholarly information you found in the library different from the typical information you find when you Google a leadership concept?

Going through the hunt library I noticed many differences when I searched for articles on leadership compared to the results I would get when I completed a search on google. One issue I have had in the past when I have tried to write articles is the lack of information which I have access to. I know that there are tons of great articles that have been written in this world, the problem is being able to get my hands on them in a timely manner. Although the internet has made it possible for me to find information instantly, a lot of the information is very bias towards whomever the magazine or news source might cater more to. I used to find a lot of good information when I used to live close to a library a child, as I got older I moved away from the my home and also the internet became much more popular. Even though it is great that the internet became much more popular I found it hard sometimes to find reliable and honest information when I would conduct a google search.

I used to think that news was just news and there were just a couple of different news sources all reporting mostly the same thing. As I became older I started to realize that every news source had their own opinion depending on which side of the political spectrum they feel under. Magazines are also the same way, the information you might get could be heavily weighted towards the side that their audience might want to hear.

This to me was is why I feel that going through the hunt library is such an advantage for a student like me. I feel that the quality of work which I am getting will be researched and for the most part will be fair. I think that these students will have studied critical thinking also the way I have this last week or so, this is important to me because these students will be mindful of their assumptions and point of view. They will know that they have to take a step back and accept the research they have done, they will write their work and not be swayed by the agenda that the company they work for might be pushing.

Many of these students’ opinions I feel will be very honest, I look forward to looking further into the hunts library for content which I might use on a future paper. I think it is refreshing to read others work during this stage, a stage where there are no editors picking at their work. This is a platform which the student can put their work out in the open for others to read and learn from and also get their full point across.
